And finally the future Kiel Classic had to
look nice and fit comfortably into the
sailing scene. Mission defined, Peter
Neumann drew a simple, pretty 27 foot boat,
and then invited naval architect Hanspeter
Petersen to step into the picture for
engineering.
The first boat was custom built 1997, in
Germany, and became an immediate trendsetter.
She was (and still is) a stunningly
beautiful, high performance retro-design
capable of 35+ knot speeds.
At the turn of the millennium, Kiel Classic
experimented with production in the eastern
Baltic, but returned 2003 back to Germany,
to the township Brodersby on the Schlei
Fjord.
Once home to Anglo-Saxon tribes that
migrated to the east coasts of England,
today’s Schlei is focal point for up-scale
yachts Made in Germany. At Marina Brodersby,
skilled craftsmen working in brand new,
state-of-the-art built production facilities
build the Kiel Classic 23, 27 and 33 for
discerning clients. |
